the Test!

So my car is here! Time for another trip to the DMV....we had a fun experience there last week....well not really, it's a little complicated. See, in CA we had to take a written test in order to get our license. Sounds easy, but I have to say, the test was not that easy! CA has some new laws that we had to read up on. Like for instance, if a child under the age of 18 is in a car, you can get a ticket for smoking in your vehicle (could you imagine having a law like that in MS!--a great idea, but would it pass???) Other things like driving on freeways, cell phones, pedestrian laws.....Needlesstosay, we had to study. In July, a law was passed that you have to have a handsfree device and can't hold a cell and talk when driving....that's been an ajdustment! I haven't bought my handsfree device yet, I try to put the speakerphone on for now....I know it's coming.....but, I PROMISE I won't be one of those cool people who walk around talking hands free....that is so rude!

The test had 36 questions and if you missed more that 6 you couldn't get your license. Coleman missed only 1 and I missed 4...close! But we got our license and all is well....Now I am trying to get my car registered...another issue....

Everyone have a great long weekend! And enjoy some college football...don't forget to check out the Fresno State v. Rutgers game Monday night.

and it begins...

I know everyone is anxiously awaiting opening weekend of college football....Ole Miss opens with the usual foe, Memphis. I know all of the Rebels are looking forward to Houston Nutt's first game. This will definitely set the tone for the rest of the season.

Fresno State opens with Rutgers...back east...we are definitely looking forward to the game...should be a good game. Coleman is going to make the trip. They leave Saturday afternoon and get back late Monday night. The game is Monday. I think it's on ESPN so everyone can check it out! I am pretty jealous because their itinerary includes a trip into NYC and a Yankees game. Mostly I am jealous b/c the US Open just started and I would love to be there! Some day soon I know..

Go Rebels and Bulldogs! (That's the Fresno State Bulldogs...haha) and I want to give a shout out to the GT Yellowjackets!

By the way, I just got a call that my Jeep finally made it to California! Thank god! Going a few weeks without a vehicle is certainly challenging! But it did enable me to stay in and unpack without the distractions of exploring while Coleman is at work :) New pics of the Barnes household coming soon!

College Football's best-kept secrets

Here is a great article by Bruce Feldman of ESPN The Magazine. It lists the 10 best -kept secrets in college football....Coleman actually has connections to 4 of the 10....

1) his best friend is the OC at Troy

2) Fresno State QB is mentioned

3) Mark Nelson was his special teams coach at UK

4) the Grove is noted as a tailgating spot

I guess they aren't secrets to us! LOL....Enjoy.....
