What is Caroline up to lately....

As we approach Caroline's first birthday, we realize it has been one amazing year! She has developed day by day and oftentimes faster than we were ready for! She is very happy playing with her toys. One day last week when I picked her up at daycare, they were outside on the playground and many of the kids were sitting down listening to one of the ladies and Caroline was up playing with a toy by herself having the best time! She must take after her parents- I think she will be independent and confident!
She really is silly and is at a point where she loved to mimic us. She is pointing at things she wants to see and makes sure we know what she want to do! She has really taken to me brushing my hair and putting a headband on. She tries to brush her hair now and insists on taking the brush from me when I try...As you can see in the picture, she tries to put all thing on her head now, just like my headbands! We learned early that she loves water! She really enjoyed going to the pool this summer and floating around! Sometimes she seems fearless which is a little scary..In the bathtub, she will try to put her head in the water, she loves to feel it running down her face! Looks like swimming lessons are in our near future!

March Madness may be over....

....But we definitely had fun cheering on Kentucky! Caroline and MB went to the Final Four for the first time. Too bad UK lost, but it was a fun time in Houston especially since MB's parents came over and Coleman's dad was there too!

First solid foods

Week 1 is complete and Caroline really liked the sweet potatoes! She laughed everytime we fed her and grabbed for the spoon. Week 2 started today with squash and she seemed to like that too....So far so good!

Caroline is 6 months old today!

Our little girl is growing up! It is so hard to believe 6 months have passed since Caroline Mae graced us. The first few months we were all adjusting to our new family and life with a new baby- not to mention how Caroline was adjusting to this brand new world! She took her first airplane flight at 2 months old and did great! She went on two other plane trips after that one and has 3 more already planned through the summer! A girl on the go!

Since her first bath, she had loved "splish-splash" time and she is just about sitting up on her own, so we'll be trying out the big tub soon! She continues to love for us to sing the ABCs to her as we did when she was first born. Now she intently watches our mouths, probably wanting to sign along with us....One day soon, Caroline!

She loves for us to read Goodnight Moon at night, and mommy and daddy just about have the words memorized! Caroline is sleeping so well in her crib since we moved her there at about 2 1/2 months. Now she wakes 1-2 times in the night, but all we have to do is rub her back or readjust her and she is back to sleep. She goes to bed around 7:30 or 8 each night and wakes between 7-7:30 in the morning.

Caroline is starting to push up on her knees and trying to scoot....She is getting stronger and stronger and may stay up on her own soon....She can sit up for a good while, but eventually topples over....We are getting better and better and will be sitting up completely soon! She can sit in her highchair and loves sitting up high and playing with her toys. She love ANYTHING she can place in her mouth. She really laughs at the "Thing-A-Majig" animals that Mimi and Gammy gave her at Christmas. Her favorites are also her butterfly and caterpillar rattle and teethers, colorful jingily keys, Sophie the Giraffe, and the Ocean Wonders jumperoo! She can touch the ground now in the jumperoo and laughs as she jumps and plays with all of the toys.

She took a ride in the stroller the other day at the mall and it was really eye opening for Caroline- literally! I guess she was used to being in the carseat and seeing my face all the time, so to see all of the new faces while strolling along must have been something for her! We look forward to many more strolls as the weather gets warmer.

The next task for Coleman and me is to baby proof the home.... Caroline is going to be really mobile in the next 6 months! Ah, and it begins!

Caroline at 4 1/2 months

A new year has started and we can't wait to see what is in store for little Caroline. She was so good over the Christmas break through all of our holiday travels. We could not have asked for her to be any better. She has now flown 3 trips and been in 6 states- and all at only 4 months! We are blessed to have a great life and enjoy sharing all of our adventures with Caroline.

She does something new every day to make us laugh or smile. On new years day, she surprised us when she decided it was time to roll over all on her own (we had been practicing but weren't quite there yet....I guess Jan. 1 was to be the day!) Now that she has discovered this, she wants to roll over whenever we place her on her back...Diaper changing can be a challenge! She has also discovered her feet and toes and constantly tries to put her feet in her mouth now. It is so funny and amazing how flexible babies are!

She has also been talking a lot...It is so cute because she gets so excited when she talks and just moves her little feet and arms in excitement! Yesterday at the grocery store, I had Caroline in her carseat in the cart and as I was looking at something, she lets out this big chirp! It honestly does sound like a bird chirping when she talks sometimes...A lady next to me looked over and said, " oh, you have a baby, I thought it was a bird!" Ha, ha, I'll have to get some video of it on here.

It is really amazing seeing Caroline discover all of these new things for the first time. It is such a wonderful experience and we love seeing everything new through her eyes!

The Barnes family got a fancy new camera for Christmas. I'll upload our holiday pictures this weekend and post some of the highlights!
